All too often we waste time and energy focusing on what others think of us and making them happy, than making ourselves happy.
After all who decided what social norms should be, and therefore what is dignified behaviour?
I love to move about to music I enjoy, even when we are out shopping. It makes me happy. Trev gets a bit embarrassed, but I then just keep a bit of distance between us and temper my 'dance' moves when there are others in the same aisle, but I don't stop, and I'm happier for it.
I also have a really loud laugh, with which most people seem to be ok, but I have been told that it can be "too much". Well, it's me, it's who I am, and it's here to stay.
For those of us contending with debilitating conditions, happiness is not something to be taken for granted. We need to be happy in ourselves to be truly happy, so why not do more of what makes us happy, irrelevant of what others think?
I'll be me; you be you, and others can be whatever makes them happy, even if it is giving us strange looks!
